| As a revThis paper tries to trace the origins of the New Brutalism, an architectural movement initialed by Alison &
Peter Smithson in the 1950’s. The text firstly sorts out its definition, unveils the As Found quality embedded in the
practices of Independent Group, then links it with Paris Avant-garde art movements, unveiling three hidden clues
behind this architectural movement.iew of the Riverside Passage in Yangpu District, Shanghai, this article looks into the design ideas
in terms of its relationship to such issues as “ambiguity” and “mannerism”, aiming to examine the significance of
the building in the context of architectural development of LIU Yichun, as well as to contemporary architecture in
general. |
