| Louis I. Kahn excavated the spiritual value and cultural meanings from Roman ruins, and successfully transformed and migrated them to his architectural thought and projects.This paper firstly discusses the connotation of the western concept of ruins and the non-stop changes of modernity.The dual superposition of roman ruins (eternity) and rapid changes triggered the transformation of Kahn’s architectural thoughts. Then we make detailed analysis of Kahn’s architectural creation and projects from three aspects:——order, structure and material. |
