| The Rothko Chapel in Houston, which was built in 1971, had profoundly conglomerate the modern painting and sacred space, which broke the definition based on the function and space of traditional chapel ,meanwhile became a significant milestone monolithic building. Starting from the art career and creating notion of Abstract Expressionism painter Mark Rothko, based on reviewing the process of the design and construction of the chapel, the article would explore the interrelation between modern art and religious consciousness, painting structure and space meaning and the traditional space and modern design. |
