| This article traces the development of construction history studies in the UK over the past three decades.
It introduces the terminology and key concepts, investigates the origin of the Construction History Society in 1982 in the UK, and examines the vision of a new landscape of history named “the building world” proposed by Sir
Summerson in 1985. The article then uses Paxton’s Crystal Place as a case study, introducing the research scopes and contents, current scholarship, and methodology of construction history in the UK. Finally, the article discusses the trends of regional-international construction history studies in the world, shedding light on the great potential of construction history studies in China. |
