| Ando is such a rare architect who combines the sensitivity of art and wisdom in an individual capable of producing different scales of buildings. His powerful inner and majestic vision, regardless of any genre, college and style, created build-ings deeply rooted in local land and life. His unique design philosophy and dedication to craftsmanship link modernism with traditional Japanese aesthetics. Most basic geometric forms are adopted to create a microscopic universe for the individual by introducing naked nature and ever-changing light and shadow. This universe is like a sanctuary full of aura and wildness, far beyond the abstraction of design concepts, reaching the most primitive desires hidden in life. Ando’s architecture is always a collection of surprises in space creation and art form. When crossing his building, you can never foresee the front, but you would always be attracted by the magic of self-expression that continues to emanate. It is like his lonely and fi erce life, always fi lled with the inspiration of romantic poetry and the power of revolution. |
