| The problems of Confucian temple at the early age of the Public of China are discussed; the repair scheme of Chongqing Confucian temple by Liang Sicheng is explored within the complex social context in 1941. The relationship between Planning Committee of Auxiliary Capital and Chongqing municipality institution, as well as the working relationships among H. H. Kung, Liang Sicheng and Xia Changshi are carefully examined, centering on the working process of repairing scheme of Chongqing Confucian Temple in 1941. The predicaments of city development and preservation of historical architecture in wartime are also investigated and discussed. |
