| This paper focuses on German architect Emil Stefann and his works. He was a signifi cant fi gure among those German church-architects in the 20th century. From a historical perspective, as a member of “the Cologne School”, Steffann represented another “modernity” of German architecture. Judging from the design methods, his “sinngerechtes Bauen” created a strong emotional atmosphere, using the most simple architectural languages and elements. Furthermore, his concept of “Armut” could be considered as a certain enlightenment for contemporary architecture in the current consumer society. |
