| Balkrishna Doshi is the first Indian architect who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize. In his more than 70 years of design career, Doshi finished more than a hundred of civilian architectural projects in India, including mixed residential, low-cost housing, school and museum, etc. His architectural creation not only contributes a lot to modern architecture in India, but also has a profound influence on the oriental expression of western modern architectural vocabulary. He focused on the ordinary civilian life in India and expressed “Architectural Inclusive Philosophy” through architectural creation, which brought about inclusiveness of nature, society, culture and real life. This paper is a review of Doshi’s architectural career, which emphasize his architectural inclusive philosophy flowing between life and living and his inclusive architectural practice. |
