| Since the 1980s, the post-war architecture in northern Italiy with its vivid discussion on the relationship
between modernity and history has become an important source of references for the young architects of ETH.
Among them belong the works of Milanese architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni to the most beloved and frequented
examples, which have consequently left clear influences on contemporary Swiss architecture. Dominioni’s productive period of practice coincides with the most exciting phases in Milan’s architectural history. His architecture is
correspondingly characterized by vibrant Experimentalism, heterogeneity of topics, and rich historical referential
layers. The theoretical study of his work offers insight, how exactly historical and political circumstances shaped
his philosophy, and got reflected in his practice of architecture. |
