| This article is an interview with architect LIU Yichun and structural engineer ZHANG Zhun. It consists of three
parts. The first section discusses the mode of collaboration between architects and structural engineers in terms of timing, means, and interaction process. The second part explores the projects of AND office, focusing on keywords such as
“lightness and thinness” “culture of structure”“arch-form”“new material”, and so on. It further elaborates on the practice of “response and sensitivity” between architects and structural engineers. The last section discusses LIU Yichun and
ZHANG Zhun’s persistent reflections on the significance of structure in architecture from a conceptual point of view and
puts forward a prospect for future education and practice of Archi-Neering Design. |
