| This paper deeply reads the Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture and the design details of Venna
Venturi House, focuses on dismantling and analyzing the design elements of the facade, traces the precedent
source of the reference components from the perspective of “detective investigation”, and then analyzes the formation
of the design concept of Venna Venturi House, so as to “historical representation” of the complexity and
contradiction of Venturi’s design. The article points out that the successful integration of classical, modern and
American vernacular architectural elements in the Venna Venturi House is Venturi’s resistance to the superficial
aesthetics of American commercial society and the dogmatic design of “orthodox modernist architecture” in the
1960s. |
