| Andrew Leach’s 2010 book What is Architectural History? explores the historical development and contemporary condition of architectural historiography as a research field. This paper sorts out and interprets a series of topics including origins，frameworks，materials，and applications of architectural history covered in the book，with a focus on the discussion of “Disciplinarity”. In the light of the interdisciplinary trends in other branches of history，such as Cultural History，it further points out that profound differences between two paradigms of “internal history” and “external history” are bringing the same challenges and enlightenments to architectural history research，which is also a methodological problem that needs to be responded to in today’s professional historiography. |
