| Undoubtedly a significant historical material in the study of LYU Yanzhi’s life, the article “Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Tomb at Nanking,” published in the October 1928 issue of China magazine, contains detailed information about him. This information includes LYU’s performance during his study at Cornell University, the recommender who introduced him upon graduation to the office of Murphy & Dana Architects in New York City, and his mentor and employer’s evaluation of him. In addition, the article covers an important project that LYU participated in, which was also an opportunity for him to develop his knowledge of Chinese architecture, and Henry Murphy’s comment on LYU’s masterpiece the Sun Yat-sen mausoleum, which continued the effort Murphy made in the search for an adaptive modern Chinese architecture. |
