| "YingzaoSuanli" is a collective term for the secret craftsmans manuscripts from the Ming and Qing dynasties, which are collected and compiled by the Society for Research in Chinese Architecture. By clarifying the terminology and algorithmic structures, we have discovered that the essence of the ancient manuscripts, "Stone Archway Suanli" , is a mathematical model with a hierarchical structure. Based on this understanding, we leveraged the Grasshopper software to transcribe the relevant algorithms, reconstruct the mathematical model, and compared it with actual structures to demonstrate the crucial guiding role of these algorithms in specific design processes. Furthermore, we delved deeper into analyzing the parametric system of the Stone Archway Suanli, revealing its core organizational thinking and dimensional balancing system from the perspective of algorithmic design. |
