| 摘要：从19世纪末开始，石窟寺作为中国的一项重要文化古迹受到外国学者与探险家的关注。本文回顾并梳理了20世纪上半叶欧美学者对中国石窟寺的考察及其研究成果，对其核心观点和研究特征进行述评，肯定其在研究视角、研究方法、研究资料和学科发展等方面的学术价值和意义。同时，通过对他们著作的研究，进一步理解中国石窟寺的艺术发展脉络等石窟学术史上的核心问题，并从一个侧面去认识石窟研究与艺术精神的关系。欧美学者的石窟研究，既以他者视角展现了中国古代的审美、信仰，以及世界观的表达，又从研究资料、视角与方法层面，给予了日后持续研究一定的帮助和启示。 |

| Abstract：Since the late 19th century，grottoes have attracted the attention of foreign scholars and explorers as an important cultural heritage in China. The article reviews and summarizes the inspection and research achievements of European and American scholars on Chinese grottoes in the first half of the 20th century，evaluates their core viewpoints and research characteristics，and affirms their academic value and significance in research perspectives，methods，materials，and disciplinary development. At the same time，through the study of their works，we can further understand the core issues in the academic history of Chinese grotto art，such as the development context，and from a certain perspective，understand the relationship between grotto research and artistic spirit. The study of grottoes by European and American scholars not only presents the expression of ancient Chinese aesthetics，beliefs，and worldviews from the perspective of others，but also provides certain help and inspiration for future research from the aspects of research materials，perspectives，and methods. |
