| Chen Congzhou was invited to participate in the design and planning work of Tianyige Garden in 1963. After more than 20 years, Tianyige Garden was completed. The design of the rockery in East Garden of Tianyige Garden is different from that in the South Garden of Tianyige Garden, which mainly admires the stones. It admires the entire mountain shape, like a corner of a mountain. The article outlines the historical development of Tianyi Pavilion and reviews the origin and evolution of Dongyuan rockery through interviews with eyewitnesses. Then, the article analyzed the inherent nature of the sea rocks used in Dongyuan rockery based on the quality of stacked mountains. It analyzed the causes of the feeling of the garden in the mountains and the characteristics of the overall mountain posture of Dongyuan rockery with the momentum of stacked mountains. It analyzed the hierarchical and detailed features of the rockery from a profound perspective, such as the shape of the main and secondary peaks, changes in travel paths, differences between mountain caves and two pavilions, etc. It also analyzed the unique stacking techniques of the sea rocks, such as "breaking flat", "wrong splicing", and "picking stones", using the method of stacked mountains.Finally, the article concludes that Chen Congzhou"s stacking of rockery in Dongyuan Garden is an innovation based on traditional stacking. He not only uses sea reef stones, which have local characteristics, as stacking materials, but also combines contemporary practices in traditional stacking techniques. This provides new ideas for the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese gardening techniques such as stacking, and also provides reference and inspiration for cultural relic protection and old garden restoration. |
