| The article explores the development history of American vernacular architecture research spanning over 150 years from the perspective of architectural history，extracting its developmental trajectory and core characteristics. It attempts to emphasize the research methods，features，examples，and the influence between representative figures and academic disciplines. Unlike most other types of architectural history research，the interdisciplinary nature and non-architectural school background of American vernacular architecture research make it unique. The article also discusses the impact of vernacular architecture research on architectural design practices. |
